Perky

Here are some pictures from Perky's funeral. The funeral home set on the Mississippi River, I had to go across the road and get some picture.

This view looks towards Bettendorf. This is the bridge that took us to Rock Island where the Arsenal was. Perky was buried in a Military Arsenal, I've never been to one so I snapped this picture looking out of my truck window. We had an escort into the Arsenal and we had to be escorted out.

Sunday after visitation almost everyone went out to eat at the Golden Corral. The man on the left is Justin, Linda's son. The other to is mom and dad in case you couldn't tell.

Lisa rode to Iowa with me Diane didn't attend. Lisa and I shouldn't travel together we are so opposite. Lisa is hot all the time and wants it cold, I'm cold most of the time and don't like it as cold, good thing I took an extra blanket I froze at night in the hotel room.

After the funeral on Monday we went to the Eagles club for a luncheon. The 2 men in the back are Justin (Linda's son) and Jim, Justin's dad.

Mom had surgery to remove cateract from her eye, Tueseay she went back to the Dr. and he

put medicine in her eyes. We were on the front porch being silly, mom started laughing so hard that her eyes were watering and it was yellow. I thought it was funny :)

A Good Day

Alex and I went shopping today for John, it's his birthday. After that I went to get my hair trimmed but the stylist wouldn't be until 1 p.m. so we had 2 hrs to waste. We went to walmarts then I took him to Arbys for lunch, then we went to the bible book store and looked around, then it was time to go back to the beauty shop. After the beauty shop we went an played putt putt, Alex won the first 9 holes I won the 2nd 9 holes. After putt putt he went on the go carts. Before heading home we stopped at DQ and then a bakery by the house we got John a huge cup cake shaped like a mouse. While at this bakery I couldn't resist getting me a slice of my favorite cake (tres leche) mmmmm...

P.S. I would like to wish Jack Hounshell a Happy Birthday... Today is his birthday also.

He's Home

Alex made it home today from camp. He had a great time, but he looked a little tired and it sounded as if he was losing his voice. Actually a big part of the kids looked tired and sounded as if they were losing their voice.

Today Alex left for Church camp, he wont be back until friday. Chelsea is leaving about 4:00 in the morning, she's going to Florida again this time with John's family. I think if she was able she would live there and never come back. Chelsea will be gone until the 15th. All I have to do now is decide how to spend my free time.

Iowa Visit

Mom and Dad went to visit Perky, they spent a few there. Linda said that she's getting into the last stages. Linda's having a hard time with her because she's being stubborn. Perky says that Linda is mean to her but Perky wont let Linda help her, she wont do what Linda tells her to do. Linda's friend can come over and tell Perky what to do and Perky will do it with no problem. Perky wears a life line around her neck, while mom and dad were there Linda was having a hard time getting her off the toilet and Perky wasn't helping so she pushes her life line. Here comes the fire department and they lift her off the pot and put her back into her chair, Linda gets nervous and upset when she does that. I think that help is getting ready to start and Linda wont be doing it alone.

Mom came over sat on the steps and talked for awhile. This is unusual so I snapped this picture for proof.

Alex and I go to the park and ride bikes and walk. We rode around the other side of the park, we stopped and got this picture of a duck either keeping cool or taking a shower.

Alex and I went to John's house yesterday and did some cleaning. It took me most of the day to do the kitchen and bathrooms. I did some straighting up and rearranging in the other rooms. After dinner I walked around the house looking at the landscaping. This picture is in front of the house YUCK! The only thing in this flower bed I like is the black-eyed Susan's. If its up to me everything is outta there.

This is just a picture looking off the back deck while I was barbecuing. If it was up to me I'd get rid of the pond also. Nothing but a breading ground for mosquitos. You cannot be out in the yard without getting attacked.

Alex and I were on the dock looking into the water. We seen alot of fishes swimming by this is just one of them.

At the Park

Summer school is finally over with. I'm so glad, I only have 4weeks vacation until I have to go back to work. Alex had to go to work with me friday(chelsea went canoeing). He said he had fun, because it was just a day of packing up and cleaning the room. Afterwards we went to the park for a ride/walk. Diane and Amanda was there riding so Alex took off with them and I was alone.

They're finished and waiting on me, I had a hard time walking friday. It felt like my foot was getting worse. I go back to food Dr. tuesday and if the medicated bandage didn't work my only 2 options left are therapy or surgery. (I don't feel as though it worked)
On my last time around the park I seen this rabbit, he sat an watched me get my camera out and turn it on, and as soon as I was ready to take the picture he decides to leave.

Not much further down was this little guy. I had to get my camera back out and by the time I was ready to take the picture 3 flew away, I was only able to get one of him. I decided to carry my camera the rest of the way around in case I seen something else, well of course nothing else happened.

Alex was bored friday and wanted something to do, I suggested a walk at the park. It's only 1.2 miles around the park. Alex was all for walking around 2 times, my leg was hurting and I was praying I'd make it around once.

Almost 1/2 way around he was tired and suggessed we go home, by that time I was feeling good and was able to go around again.

He had no problem running up this little hill, and rolling down.

Then I had to play horse with him when we got home.

Summer School

Well the 2nd week of summer school is over, only 4 weeks left. This week was a whole lot different than last week. This week it has been soooo hot and humid, tank tops and big hair this week, last week it was thin jackets. I've been trying to get the pool up but it has been a hassle, found a hole and patched it, there was another hole John found it and patched it if it doesn't work this time it's going into the garbage.

News Alert!!! I bought a swimsuit today, first one in over 20yrs.

Birthday Bash

We had our usual birthday party for everyone whose birthdays are in June and Danny because his birthday is July 5th. Becky and Josh he got burned pretty bad awhile back(grease burn). He changed the bandage while there and it looks awful.

My Flowers

I don't have many flowers in my yard because they die on me, but I have bushes that are still living.

I'm not to smart when it comes to naming types of flowers so I don't know what kind this one is. There was something else planted here and after a few years this thing started to bloom.
This one I know it's my lilac bush. I love the smell of lilacs, and I kept a vase full in my kitchen while they bloomed. The only bad thing about these 2 flowers is they don't last long.

School is finally out for summer break. Summer school started this week, of course I signed up to work and after doing so DPS decided to increase the hours and weeks. New we work til 2p.m and go 6 weeks. This week wasn't bad it hasn't been to hot in fact I've had to wear a sweater to work a couple days. Then besides summer school, this week was also vacation bible school. I volunteered to help there also. This week has been busy maybe from now on it'll slow down.

Alex got his name called so he could either pick a prize off the table or go into the money machine, he took the money machine and ended up with 3 dollars.

I talked with Linda Louise today she told me that perky is doing ok, and that she goes to the Dr. on Wednesday. Linda called to tell me about her grandson Isiah he was only 2mo's old, he passed away this past weekend. On saturday Justin had the baby and after feeding him laid on the couch with the baby on his chest. They both fell asleep. The baby rolled off his chest and between the couch and Justin. Linda was very upset because she never got to see the baby or hold him. Justin and Rosa are punishing Linda and aren't letting her see the kids.

Tree Art

Alex went to his sunday school teacher's house for a bbq(boys only). I spotted these tree carvings and I had to get a picture. When I picked him up last night I drove back down this street and hurried up and took the pictures (cars were coming) so I didn't get good pictures.

Awards Day

Friday was awards day. Alex came out with citizenship, scholarship, attendance awards along with a mathematics award and a school service award. Then he was awarded with a medal for coming in first place in his class for the multiplication bee.

After the awards there was cake and juice, then it was time to go home. The children have 4 days of school left, I have 5. Then I start the following week working summer school. I don't know if I'm happy or not.

Chelsea's Friends Baby

Chelsea had a best friend in elementary school (Jennifer). Although they haven't keep in touch over the years, they still have a lot of memories together. Jennifer lost her son this weekend, below is the story from the news artical.

DETROIT, Mich. -- An 18-year-old Detroit man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run that killed a Detroit toddler Saturday.
Ricardo Velezquez has been charged by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office with felony failure to stop at the scene of an accident while at fault, which carries a maximum sentence of up to 15 years in prison. Two other charges related to driving without a valid license have been brought against Velezquez.
The family of 2-year-old Cameron Myers said the toddler had run out onto Ferdinand Street, where his father was playing basketball, when a dark green Ford Expedition hit him.
The toddler was pronounced dead at Detroit's Children's Hospital a short time later.
Family members told Detroit police the SUV had white lettering on the windshield that read, "Jalisco Customs."
Saturday evening, police said they had found the SUV near Vernor and Junction roads, being stripped by Velezquez's family.
