Last Day of VBS

Tonight was the last night of Bible School, Alex has really enjoyed himself. He was chosen to be on stage and hold a word from a bible verse, he got to be behind the lord.

During the week the children have been getting points to win 1 of 2 prizes either a bike or scooter. They gathered points by coming everyday, saying their bible verse, bringing friends and other different things they got points for. A little girl won the bike which was first place. Second place there was a 3-way tie, and Alex was one of the winners, so the church has to go buy 2 more scooters. Alex also got a $15.00 gift card for Toys R Us, and a few other little prizes.

After they gave out the big prizes the children stayed on stage and did the motions to one of the songs they've been working on this week.

On wednesday night they had the police come and talk to the kids, and have them ask questions and some of the kids got to sit in the police car. Tonight the police with the K-9 came and talked to the kids. He showed the children how the dog obeyed hand signs and some of the kids got to pet the dog as he walked him down the aisle.

Vacation Bible School

Alex and I have been attending a new church since end of April. This church has bible school for the kids. At the end of the first night the kids learned a bible verse in class and when their name was called if they could say the verse they got a prize. Alex's name was the first to be called. He got upon stage and said it with no problem.

The theme of bible school is Rescue Zone, so on the second night they had an E.M.S. come and talk to the kids. Here are some pictures of him outside and inside of the E.M.S. vehicle.

On the third night they had firefighters come to the church and talk to the kids. Then the kids went outside to see the fire truck. They didn't hook up to the hydrant, so they only had a couple hundred gallons of water in the truck, but it was enough to get the kids wet.

Here he is standing infront of the fire truck after getting wet, it was a nice hot day for the kids to get wet.

Mom

I gave mom a perm today, then I trimmed her hair just a little. Then she gave me the ok to take her picture. I guess the bruise goes down farther, and it looks like a smile across her neck. It's still a bit swollen. She's doing ok but for the mornings she sleeps more than normal. I guess that is normal for now, until she fully recovers. The bugs are gone, she hasn't talked about them any more. I would hate to go through that, seeing things that aren't real especially bugs & snakes.

Schools Out

Well today has finally come, The last day of school. I get tomorrow off only because I have 2 1/2 days of comp left, so I got the ok to use it tomorrow. I will lose a day and 1/2, but that's better than losing a whole week of paid time. Monday I start working summer school, that goes till July 27th.

Mom seems to be doing better today, although she felt a panic attack coming on. Maybe after her body fully recovers from surgery she wont have as many panic attacks. She has a Dr. appt tomorrow night for a follow up after surgery. The Dr. will probably take out the drainage tubes then, if they haven't fallen out.

She's Home

What an interesting day...
Mom came home today, she still had a bad night last night. Seeing bugs and hearing arguments from across the hall (that didn't happen). She also thought the lockers were a glass door and she swore that a poe cat was comming through it. She was also awake most of the night trying to call me to come and pick her up (I don't think she knew how to use the phone). Then she was getting mad at me because I wasn't there early enough to get her. I got there at 8:15 a.m. the Dr. hadn't come yet, I got to talk to him, we made it home around 10:00a.m. She wasn't talking very good, I had to keep telling her that alot of what she is talking about didn't happen. She was having a hard time figuring out what is the truth and what is drug related.

Anyway, I had an experience on the way home from the hospital. I got pulled over by the cops, for running a red light. I remember a yellow that turned red as I started under. I didn't want to stop suddenly because of mom. I drove down a little ways and there was a cop that gave me a quick siren. He told me what I did, I explained that I was concentrating on trying to talk mom through a panic attack. The cop told me I was about to give him a panic attack, he thought he was going to have to do a police chase. Lucky for me he told me to go on home.
Mom's doing ok as of 2:00 p.m. she's not talking as crazy as before.

RE: MOM

Mom didn't get to come home today as planned. This morning when dad went to the hospital, mom was getting nervous about some blood that was on her gown. The Dr. said is was blood caught in somewhere, so he drained the rest of it and told her it would be ok.
Last night the pain medicine they gave her must have been to strong, She was hallucinating. She saw bugs all over the place, there were bugs inside the soap bottle. She also said the people across the hall kept her up all night. She said they were fighting and yelling at each other, she also said there was a couple men laying on the floor. (none of that happened). Dad's going to tell them not to give her that medicine any more. I took tomorrow off work so I can bring her home. Hopefully she'll do ok tonight and get to come home tomorrow.

Mom's Surgery Today

Today mom is having the goiters taken out of her neck. She is scheduled to be at the hospital this morning at 8:00 a.m. I took the day off work so I could be at the hospital with her, Lisa may also be there. Please keep her in your prayers.

Mom came through the surgery ok. The Dr. got all the goiters and took out 90% of her gland. He said he didn't see how she was still breathing and swallowing, In his opinion she may not have made it to her 6mo checkup. I stayed with her until they brought her into her room. She looked good, but was getting nervous because her mouth was so dry and she just wanted something. When I left she was trying to eat, (liquid diet) she was trying but having a little bit of a hard time. She'll be in the hospital tonight and depending on how she's doing tomorrow, maybe she can come home.

After they wheeled mom away the 4 of us went to the cafeteria and got a bite to eat. The lady on the right is Barb, thank God for her. She's the one that got mom to all these Drs. that has helped her. She's been their from the beginning and she stayed with us at the hospital all day while mom was in surgery.

Honors Ceremony

Today the 2nd graders had their awards ceremony. Here's Alex accepting his awards. He got Scholarship, Citizenship, Detroit free press / M-Care award, student of the month (Nov) award and after school tutoring award. He had no choice in the tutoring part, because since I worked tutoring he had to stay. I even got an award for Outstanding Volunteer, when I asked why she told me it's because I have stayed after school and helped her, I've also given up my lunch to do work for her, so that's why I got an award. I think that's her way of getting me to go on stage in front of everyone, knowing I don't like that stuff.
He was on the back row, and I was able to get his picture as he was peeking between the other kids

His teacher grabbed him in passing to get the last dance of the year, he didn't want to dance.

Here the boys just wanted to get a picture together.

Alex at the end of the day with his teacher, Mrs. Beavers-Looney. He thought she was going to make him dance again.

Multicultural Concert

Thursday and Friday is our multicultural concert aka spring concert. I don't think the concert was put together very good. Most of the classes focused on the hispanic cultural. We had just a few teachers did something other than mexican. One did American, one did Asian and one teacher did a poem and a song and it focused on African cultural.
Alex's class was one of the first ones out. Thursday they had 2 performances a.m. & p.m. I took this picture in the p.m. he doesn't look very happy. This was just after lunch and he was out on the playground and fell off the spining bar and ate dirt. His chin and knee was scared up a bit.
One of our teachers worked with a small group of kindergarten kids, and taught them a hispanic dance. Those little kids do really good. You'd think they'd be shy but not these kids.

This is a group of 1st graders doing the twist in their poodle skirts. This is a class that didn't do a hispanic dance.

This is our Asian dancers, another group that did something other than hispanic.

Danny's Graduation

Today was the day Danny graduated from high school. Diane was able to get quite a few tickets. Mom, Dad, Me, Alex & Chelsea was able to attend. Along with Curts Mom & Dad. Here we are in our seats awaiting the ceremony. We got center row half way back. That place was like an oven, I don't believe they had the air on. Only because it's been cold here for the last few day; so today it decides to turn off to be hot, humid and muggy.

I tried to get Danny when he was getting his dipolma, this is the best I could do in a hurry. It was unusual how they did it. Instead of calling in ABC order, they divided the students up by the teacher they had. And then they still didn't call in order.

This is when I first found Danny outside.

Diane and Danny when she finally found the graduate outside.

All the Grandparents.

Here's Diane, Curt, Amanda and of course Danny.

Here's a picture of the 3 kids from our family that have graduated high school to date.

I had Amanda give Danny a kiss, don't think she really wanted to but she did any way.
