Deep Freeze

It has been sooooo cold here that you can't get out without freezing your behind off. I woke up this morning at 6:00a.m. it was -1 degree but when I left for work at 8:30a.m. it was -12 degrees. The girls went out yesterday to get some snow pants because they want to build a snowman. Here's Chelsea, Vanessa, and Soffiya in the store trying on some snow pants and taking pictures. I was talking with soffiya and she doesn't want to go to San Francisco to live she wants to back to L.A. because San Francisco is too cold. I guess she would never want to live in Michigan because it's alot colder here than San Francisco. It's supposed to be really cold tonight and then start warming up to the 20's that will be a welcome relief.
(It's warmer in Anchorage, AK than in Michigan, can you believe that)

Here's a picture of the girls when they were in Florida.

Chelsea's Next Adventure

I took Chelsea to the airport today, she is heading to Newport News, Va. Not somewhere she would choose to vacation. She's meeting a friend she was in Florida with and will be spending a few days there. On monday both girls are heading to Michigan in a car, Sophia will be spending a week or two with us before she heads to California. When she leaves us she'll meet another friend from Florida in Chicago and they will drive together a few states, and the girls dad will fly from California to a meeting point and they both will drive together back to California.

New Years Day

We had a nice relaxing day, didn't really do much of anything. Before dinner was done I caught mamaw stealing a fried potato. Then I got a picture of her acting like dad(sticking her tongue out). Dad did a really good job fixing dinner, he did it all I just brought over some desert.

After dinner we sat around the table, it started out with vanessa straighting Lisa's hair. Most of the time the kids were in the living room. Except when Alex had us playing Guess Who?.

We sat around the table listening to christian comedy, it was pretty funny we all had a good laugh. After that we sat around listening to gospel music some old and some new. Mamaw still remembered alot of the old stuff and would sing along like the rest of us. WE HAD CHURCH! Becky and Josh were listening to comedy with us, while the rest of the kids were in the living room playing guitar hero.

After the kids left it was time for Jess to take her nap.

I enjoyed our day, which didn't end until around 7p.m. when the last of us went home.

The House

I took Mom, Dad, Mamaw and Lisa to Johns new house. We took sandwiches and chips and had a picninc inside. They gathered their chairs in front of the window so they could watch whats going on in the yard. Mamaw then told how I should decorate the house. She told me she wouldn't put no curtains on the window maybe a valance, that way we could set and watch out the window.
I showed mamaw a room I'm fixing up so she could stay with me awhile, she said don't make her a room she already has a house.

Dad and Alex went for a walk out in the yard and I tried to get a good shot but I only had my little camera. By the time we got home mamaw said that she would come and stay a week with me, under one condition, I have to take her back home. Then she said she might stay a couple weeks or longer, then she made sure I had a shower and bathroom close by her room. She made me feel sad, she told me she was sure gonna miss me when I moved.

March Weather

We had some wicked weather last night and into today. It started out last night with a big flash of light John and dad went out and dad said whatever it was lit up his whole house. All night I heard sirens. About 7 a.m I heard a noise and thought it was maybe an accident. When I looked out I found this tree laying across the road. This is about an hour or two after it happened. The first idiot who tried to cross it without moving anything got stuck and hit the red car a couple times until he got out. Afterwards there were a few people who moved the debrie out of the way. The city had the tree cut up and everything cleaned up by 3:00p.m. We were lucky and didn't lose power but due to the strong winds alot of people are without power.

Christmas 08

After dinner we sat around the table talking, Dad came and broke out with the homemade ice cream. After eating a couple bowls mamaw got cold (we all took a chill) she went and got her blanket and came back to the table wrapped up and we continued talking.

It's not a gathering without dad and one of his faces.
The kids got a wii for christmas, and talked me into getting in there to play. I played but didn't do to well

Jessica, Alex and Chelsea playing. I tried to getting them in silly positions but this is all I came up with.

Christmas Gift

John got this picture for me, he had a co-worker make it. It's all cut out from wood and placed over a mirror and framed. Very nice detail.

More Snow

It's been snowing again today, actually most of the day. I think we've added another 3 inches onto the already 8 inches we got on friday. Not only are we getting the snow we've had very cold temps. this is the weather we usually get in January. We are expecting rain later tonight or tomorrow sometime. I went to mom and dads house today, mamaw was on the porch watching t.v. when I came in she just started talking up a storm (maybe that's why it kept snowing) most of the time she'll talk if you start the conversation. Mamaw has been talking and laughing alot especially in the last month. Dad tells mamaw that he's gonna make her get out and shovel snow she says NO! Dad jokes around and tells her it's his house and she'll do as he says, she is getting a little mouthy, she tells dad that it's her house too and she's not doing it, then her and dad end up laughing

Snow Storm

We're getting our snow storm, Christmas vacation started a day early. No school HURRAY!!! everyone was praying for a snow day.

I got out about 7:30 this morning to shovel. I did the back yard, then dad came out with his snow blower and did the front. The picture below is the sidewalk and the accumlation of snow we have so far.

Look who came out without a coat to check out the snow. Mamaw knew it was Louie and Debbie out there in the snow. Mom said that mamaw told her Debbie needs a scarf on. When I came in mamaw came to me laughing and told me my hair is frozen that I should've had a scarf on.

I took this picture of all these vehicles out on the road, someone forgot to tell them it's snowing they should be at home. We knew this was coming but it didn't start til about 5:oo a.m. but when it came it came quick. By the time dad and I were done clearing the snow it started sleeting and snowing at the same time.

Christmas Program

It's that time of year again, only 2 days of school left until it's Christmas vacation and I can't wait. It's been a really busy and stressful month. I first had to worry about doing pictures with Santa and praying they come out right. Somehow I got into making skirts and I don't know how to sew. I did the best I could and I know they're not perfect, but they look good from a distance. Alex's class sang Oh Christmas tree for the program. The children in the skirts danced to a salsa version of Santa clause is coming to town. One couple is missing because I do believe the boy claimed he was sick and stayed home so he wouldn't have to dance.

Busy Month

It's been a busy month so far and it's only just begun. I got myself into making santa skirts for 5 girls at school, for the christmas program. The only thing is I don't sew, but I've been working on that this week. I've also done santa pictures at the school which is very stressful, I'm worried that something gonna go wrong. I took the pictures in today and got them back today, so for the last couple hours I've been sorting pictures. I have to get out and do some christmas shopping this weekend, I'm getting behind.
This is one of the santa pictures I did, I chose her to show off because I just love her red hair. Santa is the brother of a good friend from work, a good family that John & I grew up with. He wasn't going to do it at first but after he thought about it he changed his mind. The school has been doing fundraisers this year to get money to repair some things in the school, and this was one of the fundraisers they talked me into doing.

Thanksgiving Day with Family

Mamaw coming for turkey dinner.
I didn't have my white balance fixed when I took these pictures, but I like them so I think I'll keep them anyway.

We had almost all the family with us today, except for Becky, Jerry, John and Chelsea. Even though you can see her in between, she didn't stay. We had alot of food and were very happy when we were able to eat.

We were so stuffed from dinner we had to wait extra time before we had desert. Dad was nice enough to let me get this picture of him without one of his faces. After this we went into the living room and was listening to Michael play his guitar. We got mamaw to sing for us, she sang amazing grace, some of when the saints go marching in. After mike left mamaw would join lisa as she randomly sang some christmas songs.

Mom just couldn't wait, she had to get her tree out and get it put up tonight. Lisa put it up and got the lights on and then sit down and let mom put the ornaments on.

The Blue Pigs

The Blue Pigs came to the school today(Police Officers that go to schools and perform) they've been around for 38 yrs. I remember them when I was attending school. They sang alot of motown songs. They had some of the teacher get up front and danced to My Girl.

The ones that wouldn't get up front and dance started dancing in the back.

A teacher and parent began dancing

They had a question and answer time. Before they started they picked 2 children to go up front and answer questions. Alex got chose, he answered all 3 questions correct and got a book on dinosaurs, inside it was signed by all the pigs in the group.
